Having identified the growing need for welltrained computer professionals in the country, the University started the School of Computer Sciences in the year 1990. The School enjoys considerable repute as a centre of learning, a reputation matched by a stimulating intellectual atmosphere. The School has well equipped laboratories with a wide range of computer facilities including smart class rooms, video conferencing facility and virtual class room. The postgraduate programmes of the School focus on strengthening the students knowledge in almost all areas of computer science and on exposing them to the issues involved in the development of computer systems. Curriculum revision is done regularly to keep the programmes up to date.
The Department is located in the picturesque Priyadarsini Hills Campus of Mahatma Gandhi University Kottayam, Kerala. The facilities such as laboratory, hostel and library are comparable to any institution of its kind in India. The School currently offers post-graduate and research programmes in computer science. The team of well experienced self-motivated faculties orient the students in the right research direction, which will enable the students to leave their signature in the frontier areas of computing.

The M.Sc course prepares the student to pursue higher studies or a career in software development and systems programming.
Admission to the M.Sc programme is based on performance in the qualifying examination and the entrance examination conducted by the university.The duration of the course is two years (four semesters). The class time is divided into two sessions: half-day lectures and half-day practicals. The integrated schedule of assignments and lab work demands that students work intensively both in the laboratory and in the library. The M.Sc programme is a second level M.Sc, admitting only students with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Application.
