            Mahatma
Gandhi University is among the foremost of the developing
generation of Indian Universities, modern in outlook and
prolific in new methods and ideas. The School
of Computer Sciences department stands on a
beautiful sloping site called Priyadarshini Hills of Mahatma
Gandhi University, thirteen kilometers to the north of
Kottayam town of Kerala, India.
Solemnly started on October 2, 1983, on the 115th birth
anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the University has already
established strong and growing industrial links. The faculty
members and the students of the University collaborate closely
with many industries on a varied range of research topics. In
addition to formal teaching, the University encourages
graduate students to gain experience in their fields of
research from the industry. Mahatma Gandhi University has
earned a national reputation in providing graduate and
post-graduate learning opportunities in frontier areas of
science and technology, especially in medical and electronic
sciences.
Kottayam is a pleasant, growing town. Geographically situated
in the middle of Travancore region, which forms the southern
part of Kerala, Kottayam has many tourist spots in the state
within easy reach. Large rubber plantations are common scenes
in the northern and eastern parts of the district. Kottayam is
also the seat of many leading newspapers of the country. It is
the first city that has achieved 100 percent literacy in
India. Hence the state's tourist maps designate Kottayam as
the Land of Letters, Lakes and Latex.
    Since inception,
Sixteen batches have
passed out with flying colours from the School of Computer
Sciences department. Currently there are two full-time batches
(
2009-2011)
and
(2010-2012)
of M.Sc. students at the school.
